DEDICATION. The 1952 Trawler staff proudly dedicates this eleventh issue of our yearbook to our 1951 Southwest District AA Football Champions. The team worked hard and willingly for the many victories they chalked up. They fought loyally for pur Alma Mater and brought to it an exceptionally fine recognition throughout the state. For these things, we honor the 1951 Tigers.

Just a practice, but doing it with all their heart.

Oui, Carroll Toups, entraîneur de la médiocre équipe de basket, jouait au football avec les Tigers de Terrebonne ! Ceci explique cela. Au football, ce fut une glorieuse saison 1951-1952 :

The 1951-52 Terrebonne Tigers climaxed a very fine season by copping the Southwest District Crown and tieing for third in the state playoffs. In the first game of the season, the Tigers handed the highly favored Reserve Wildcats a 12-0 defeat. The next week at home, the potent Tigers showed power and class by soundly taming a Lake Charles Wildcat, 27-6. This was THS’s first win over Lake Charles in four games.
Next in the menu for the hungry Tigers were the powerful Bears of Catholic High. A vain comeback attempt in the final quarter by the Bears failed and the Tigers were again triumphant, 13-6.
Journeying to Sulphur for the next game, the Tigers extended their winning streak by squeezing past the Tors, 26-25. This was another “first” as the Tors had beaten them two years earlier.
Making their initial invasion into the Crescent City of New Orleans, th Tigers took the high flying Jesuits’ Blue Jays on October 19. Although helped greatly by Gordon King’s 78 yard kickoff return for a T.D., the Bengals were outscored, 27-20.
A terrific comeback the following week enabled the Tigers to score an easy 20-0 victory over the Bogalusa Lumberjacks. In icy winds, and a low temperature, the glory bound Tigers virtually clinched the District Crown by upsetting the Bulldogs of Jennings, 12-6. Jimmy Williams’ blocking of a Jennings punt was instrumental in the victory.
The Bengals were crowned District Champs as a result of their 45-14 rout of the Lafayette Lions before a large homecoming crowd.
In a late season home game, the Tigers, led by Fazio and Kimball stopped the LaGrange Gators, 28-13. These same Gators who were beaten by THS placed second in the state class A playoffs.
The traditional battle between THS and Morgan City was again a thriller. Led by Gordon King’s 212 yard gain and four T.D.’s, the Tigers romped 45-26.
In the semi-final of the State Playoffs, the victory streak of the Tigers was snapped at nine games by the Indians of Fair Park 26-13. This game brought to a close and exceedingly fine T.H.S. season.

Especially active during the past championship season were the six girls and boys who led the spectators in yells and cheers as the Tigers marched to victory after victory.
